Becky’s art quilt

I was so thrilled to receive an art quilt which is to be a framed wallhanging and the client saying “do what you want”. Couldn’t get my hands on it fast enough to try out the concepts I learned at my recent week in Oregon. I did a lot of thread changes, including the bobbin, so it was time consuming, but oh so much fun to do.

I started by quilting an outline border in bright white because she plans on putting a bright white wood frame around it to match the cupboards she has in her basement family room. Although, as I learned in Hollis’s class you need to use really bright threads to have it make a difference. You can see the white thread when you look up close, but generally the thread is difficult to see and I used A LOT of florescent threads. After that I moved around the quilt with one color of thread and letting the designs come as they come.

So I have one full view and some detail shots as well.
