LaConner Quiltfest

I’m so excited to tell you all that I’m a winner at the LaConner Quiltfest in LaConner, WA! The festival opened today and will continue through Sunday Oct 5. I attended the preview party last night to find out what I had won. I have actually three entries that were accepted this year, so when I received ONE email informing that “my entry” had won an award, I didn’t know which one. We wandered through the exhibits to find the quilts.

The first one I found was “The Petunia Patch”. It won 2 awards! It won an Honorable Mention in the abstract pictorial art quilt category. That was the same category as Best of Show. The second award was an Award of Excellence! Wow, I was blown away and so excited. This is a group quilt made with 4 other friends of mine: Jan Furrenes, Sharon Robinson, Dianna Sarich, and Paula Graham.  Here’s the quilt:

I thought that was it…..but we wandered around and found the realistic pictorial category where both “The ’39” and “Room for One More” were hanging. Wow…again another metal hanging on “The ’39”. Third place in that category. I was thrilled! I didn’t get good pictures, but here’s the submission picture and a close up of the award.
