Dr Seuss for Elliot

This is a quilt that I made for my new grand nephew Elliot born July 20th. Lots of fun to make. It grew a bit larger than I originally intended, but really pleased at how it turned out. And his mom, my niece said they had bought 2 Dr. Seuss books before he was born….how great is that?

I bought a panel and cut out the blocks from that. I bordered them at an angle, then sashed them with a black and white with lines from Dr. Seuss book titles. In the red border I added a couple of pieces of leftovers and quilted in the Cat in the Hat hat. The quilting in the center of the quilt is what I call ‘wonky circles’.
